AMED - DFG and MKG reacted to the detention of journalists in Istanbul and demanded their immediate release.
Several journalists were detained in house raids in Istanbul and Izmir in the morning hours. Dicle Fırat Journalists' Association (DFG) and Mezopotamya Women Journalists' Association (MKG) reacted to the deteintions with posts on their virtual media accounts.
DFG: THEY MUST BE RELEASED IMMEDIATELY
In the statement of DFG reads: "Journalists in Istanbul have been attacked for days while performing their profession. While RTÜK threatened channels showing democratic actions, BTK (Information and communication technologies authority) blocked access to many X accounts. This morning, 10 journalists were detained in raids on our colleague's homes. We do not accept the detention of our colleagues and demand their immediate release."
MKG: WE WILL NOT STOP WRITING
MKG also reacted to the detentions. MKG statement reads: "These attacks aimed at silencing the press and making the truth invisible are unaccaptable! Journalists follow the news and inform the public. Our detained colleagues must be released immediately. As journalists, we are here and we raise our voices. We will not stop writing, speaking and delivering the truth to the public! We call on all our colleagues and the public to stand in solidarity agianst this unlawful behaviour."

The detained journalists are as follows: "Zeynep Kuray, Bülent Kılıç, Gökhan Kam, Hayri Tunç, AFP reporter Yasin Akgül, NOW reporter Ali Onur Tosun, BirGün writer Barış İnce, Sendika.org reporter Zişan Gür, İBB photo reporter Kurtuluş Arı and photojournalist Murat Kocabaş."
