ŞIRNEX - Cizîr Municipality trustee paid 4 million 130 thousand Liras to Dosso Dossi for the events they organized in 2022, on the grounds of "breaking the bad image that has formed among people".

Bans continue on organizations of artists known for their Kurdish and opposition identities and non-governmental organizations working on Kurdish language and culture. Since 2019, at least 28 Kurdish events in 16 cities have been banned or canceled for various reasons. Of the Kurdish events banned or canceled by AKP municipalities and governorships, 18 were concerts and 8 were theater plays.

While bans remain on the agenda, policies targeting young people with cultural degeneration have been put into effect in recent years, especially in Kurdistan. Dosso Dossi Holding is among those put on the field within the scope of policies targeting Kurdish culture, history and memory.

DEM PARTY DID NOT SUPPORT

Dosso Dossi Holding organized some events, supported by trustees, AKP municipalities and governorships that prevent many events in Kurdish, has organized festivals under the name of "festival" in Agirî's Bazîd (Doğubayazıt), Şirnex's Cîzir (Cizre) and Amed's Sûr (Sur) districts in recent years.

Lastly, Dossi Dossi wanted to organize a "concert" in Newroz Park in Amed. The management of the People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), which won the municipality in the March 31 elections, did not accept the contract made during the trustee period and announced that it would not support the organization on the grounds that "People's expenses are not something that can be spent there in an economic crisis."

Following the statement of Amed Metropolitan Municipality, it was revealed that Dosso Dossi received money from the trustee administrations for the organizations.

RECEIVED MILLIONS FROM CIZÎR MUNICIPALITY

According to the information obtained, Dosso Dossi received 4 million 130 thousand Liras for the organization it held in Cizîr district on October 30, 2022. Soner Sarıkabadayı, Sefo, Kurtuluş Kuş and Burak Bulut took the stage at the organization held by Dosso Dossi on the banks of the Tigris River on that date. Additionally, Dosso Dossi Holding Senior Manager Hikmet Eraslan also performed as a DJ.

CIZÎR'S IMAGE IS BAD!

Cizîr Municipality, which was under trustee management at the time the organization took place, also allocated a serious budget for the organization. Cizîr Municipality Directorate of Culture and Social Affairs made a request to the trustee regarding the "music festival". Remarkable statements were included in the request dated October 26, 2022.
In the request, it was argued that the values of the district were not sufficiently promoted and that "(...) name generally creates a bad impression in people due to the terrorist incidents that occurred in the past. As Cizre Municipality, in order to break this bad image that has formed in people and to promote the beauties of our district nationally, to contribute to the social development of the young population in the district, to bring together nationally famous artists, to introduce our young people to art rather than leaving them alone with substances and similar bad habits on the streets, on 30.10.2022. We believe that it would be beneficial to hold a large-scale music festival."

The directorate listed the items for which it wants money to be spent from the municipal budget within the scope of the "festival" as follows:

"* Event advertising should be made by the Mayor

* The area must be delivered to the company at least 5 days in advance.

* Bringing at least 3 national artists

* DJ performance

* Providing all kinds of technical materials for the event

* Bringing adequate sound, stage, lighting and fireworks equipment on the night of the show.

* Ensuring area security

* Transfer of incoming goods and materials and ensuring security"

The trustee accepted the directorate's request and decided to pay 4 million 130 thousand Liras for the items in question. The value of the money paid to the company at that time corresponds to approximately 8 million today.
