RIHA – DEM Party MP Ömer Öcalan stated that Kurds are in love with peace and solution, “We need an honourable peace” he said.
Human Rights Association (IHD) Riha (Urfa) Branch held its 18th Ordinary Congress. Speaking at the congress, IHD Regional Representative Tahir Saçaklı reminded the history of IHD and noted that it has made significant contributions to human rights with its struggle. Ismail Tutal, current co-chair of the branch of IHD Riha, drew attention to the wars in the Middle East and said that democratic society and IHD are important keystones for a social peace. The congress continued with the reading of the messages sent.
DEM Party MP Ömer Öcalan emphasised that human rights defenders have always struggled against these sufferings in Kurdistan. Ömer Öcalan stressed that IHD has always defended peace: “28 people were murdered in Riha in an unidentified manner. Saturday Mothers have been resisting for many years. IHD is the apple of our eye for this. IHD should be strengthened everywhere. We are happy that there is a process, but at the same time we have concerns. There is a problem at the basis of ntions states. Right now the Middle East is a battlefield of nation states. We have claims, we have a great paradigm. We need to renew ourselves. We will take strength from the past and open new paths.”
Then Songül Arpa and Baver Gül were elected as IHD Riha Branch co-chairs with the election held in the congress.
