ANKARA - In the DEM Party's statement on the MHP meeting, it was stated that the issues that the Parliament should take on in the context of the Kurdish issue were discussed.
Peoples' Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party Co-Chairs Tulay Hatimogullari and Tuncer Bakirhan met with the Turkish Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chair Devlet Bahceli at the Parliament.
In the written statement of DEM Party about the meeting, it was stated that the developments in Turkey and the region were discussed: “During the meeting, the developments after the Call for Peace and Democratic Society, Turkey's democratisation process, the meeting of the DEM Party İmralı Delegation with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan and the PKK's congress decisions announced on 12 May were discussed. The steps to be taken for the progress of the process, the role to be assumed by the Parliament, the new judicial package, the commission expected to be established in the Parliament and the constitution were discussed. It was emphasised that it is of critical importance to establish a fully authorised commission within the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, which Bahceli also called for, and to adopt a method that will ensure the active involvement of political parties in the process."
