ANKARA - DEM Party deputies attended the budget talks of the Ministry of Family and Social Policies with "Jin, jiyan, azadi" banners on their desks.
The budget talks of the Ministry of Family and Social Policies started at the Parliamentary Planning and Budget Commission. During the discussions, the opposition benches displayed banners reading "Istanbul Convention keeps you alive", "Jin, jiyan, azadî (Woman, life, freedom)" and photographs of murdered women.
CHP'S SUIÇMEZ SHOWED A SHROUD
CHP MPs showed a shroud to draw attention to the murders of women. CHP Ankara MP Semra Dinçer and CHP Trabzon MP Sibel Suiçmez protested against femicides by showing the shroud. The names of the murdered women were written on the shroud.
Dinçer addressed Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş and said: "We started to carry the shroud in our bag, Mr Minister, the names of murdered women are written here."
Mehmet Muş, the Chair of the Commission, said "This is not Taksim Square" to the MP who protested.
