NEWS CENTER - In the public meetings held within the scope of "Democratic Society Meetings", citizens expressed their concerns and suggestions regarding the process.
The Peoples' Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party is organising "Democratic Society Meetings" to inform the public and receive their opinions and suggestions following the call of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
AGIRÎ
In Agirî (Ağrı), meetings were held in Küpkıran neighbourhood of the centre, Qewax village, Didem in Avkevir (Taşlıçay) district and Bazîd (Doğubeyazıt) district.
DEM Party Assembly Member Adnan Topçu said: "Mothers paid the biggest price for this war. The tears of mothers should not flow anymore. This new process is not a 3-5 day process. Because there is a 50-year struggle. We must embrace this process and organise accordingly."
ŞIRNEX
"Peace and Democratic Society" meetings initiated by Free Women Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA), Democratic Regions Party (DBP) and DEM Party continue in Şirnex (Şırnak) and its districts. Public meetings were held in the centre of Şirnex, Konak neighbourhood and Cinibrê village of Cizîr and Yenimahalle neighbourhood of Hezex (İdil) district.
AMED
"Democratic Society Meetings" continue in the districts of Amed (Diyarbakır). Public meetings were held in Gunde Selman neighbourhood of Erxenî (Ergani) district of Amed. In the speeches, Abdullah Öcalan's Manifesto for a Democratic Society and the PKK's disarmament process were pointed out and the importance of organisation for the state to take concrete steps was emphasised.
The event ended with questions and criticisms of the citizens.
RIHA
Public meetings were held in Xelfetî (Halfeti), Serêkaniye (Ceylanpınar), Haliliye centre, Sewêreg (Siverek), Pirsûs (Suruç), Karaköprü, Curne Reş (Hilvan), Berecûk (Birecik), Hewag (Bozova) and Eyyübiye districts of Riha (Urfa). During the meetings, Abdullah Öcalan's call released on 9 July was shown as a cinevision show. The meetings ended with the distribution of booklets and brochures prepared on the process.
