ÊLIH - DBP Co-Chair Keskin Bayındır emphasized that the demands for “freedom for Abdullah Öcalan and democratic solution of the Kurdish issue” will come to the forefront in the rally to be held in Êlih on November 17th.

Democratic Region Party (DBP) Co-Chair Keskin Bayındır called for a rally to be held in Êlih (Batman) on November 17 and said that the rally is also a rally for the freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan. “Those who want democracy and freedom for the freedom of Mr. Öcalan must be in the rally area,” he said.

A “Democracy and Freedom” rally will be held in Êlih on November 17th to demand the lifting of the isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, his physical freedom and a solution to the Kurdish issue. The rally will also protest the decision to appoint trustees to Mêrdîn (Mardin) Metropolitan, Êlih and Xelfetî (Halfeti) municipalities on November 4, which were governed by the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party). The address of the rally led by the Democratic Institutions Platform is Basın Junction in the city.

DEMAND FOR 'FREEDOM FOR ABDULLAH ÖCALAN'

Speaking about the rally, DBP Co-Chair Keskin Bayındır stated that we are going through a period of attacks against Kurds. Pointing to the resistance against the trustees,  “No matter who you ask, they stand against this oppression and do not accept it. This is why they express their reaction. The people of Êlih resist against the trustee usurpation day and night. We will organize a rally in the city on November 17th against this usurpation. We are working on this day and night. This rally is not only a rally for Êlih, but also for Kurdistan. We will take to the field for freedom and democracy in Kurdistan. Those who struggle for freedom and democracy are resisting against the system that does not recognize the will of the Kurdish people. This rally is the rally of those who demand freedom and democracy against the trustee usurpation,” Bayındır said.

Bayındır said that in addition to the usurpation of will, the rally is also a rally for “freedom for Abdullah Öcalan".

"This rally is also a historic rally for the freedom of Mr. Öcalan and the solution of the Kurdish issue.  Everyone is looking at the Kurdish issue from their own perspective. Until now, no will has been put forward for the solution of the issue. It was Mr. Öcalan who put forward the will. This must be seen. Mr. Öcalan is the interlocutor of the Kurdish issue. Those who demand a solution to the Kurdish issue and demand democracy and freedom should be at the rally. The government does not seek a solution. We will solve this problem with our resistance and determination. Everyone who wants democracy and freedom for Mr. Öcalan's freedom should be at the rally.”

Emphasizing that there will be important statements on the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan at the rally, Bayındır continued as follows: “Workers, women, youth, academics, students, democracy forces, civil society organizations and many others who demand democracy and freedom should take their place in the field and stand against this usurpation of will. If the mass of the rally is large, the message will also be big.”
