ISTANBUL - An appeal has been filed against the detention of Prof. Dr. Ahmet Özer, the mayor of Esenyurt, who was elected by the Urban Consensus and replaced by a trustee.

An appeal has been filed against the detention of Esenyurt Mayor Prof. Dr. Ahmet Özer, who was unseated from office by the Ministry of Interior and replaced by a trustee. On October 30, Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer was detained and arrested by the court the same night. His lawyer Seraf Özer filed an appeal against his detention at the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan. Özer was accompanied by Republican People’s Party (CHP) Deputy Chairperson for Internal Affairs Policies Attorney Murat Bakan, CHP Deputy Chairperson Gamze Taşçıer, and CHP Istanbul provincial executives.
