ISTANBUL- 14 institutions and 391 individuals have released a solidarity message for Armenian citizen Garo Kaprielyan who was subjected to a racist attack, and announced that they have launched a petition campaign against racism.
391 individuals, including 14 institutions, activists, writers, artists and human rights defenders, have released a solidarity message for Armenian citizen Garo Kaprielyan who was injured after being subjected to a racist attack on August 1st in Kınalıada, Istanbul, and announced that they have launched a petition campaign.
The solidarity message included the following statements: “We believe that this threat and violence must be punished before the law, and that the policy of leaving it unpunished and gradually making it forgotten, which will pave the way for new attacks, should end, and we declare with our signatures that we stand by our neighbor, friend, comrade and citizen Garo Kaprielyan and that we will not leave him alone during the judicial process. One of the aims of our campaign is to stand against efforts to erase memory by keeping the issue on the agenda and ensuring that it is discussed."
