MÊRDÎN - Hasan Abi, one of the villagers who said that the fire disaster started when the spark on the electrical wires fell on the land, said: "If there had been early intervention, so many people would not have died." And it is noteworthy that DEDAŞ also started work at the point where the fire broke out.

55-year-old Hasan Abi, who witnessed the fire between Amed's Çinar (Xana Axpar) and Mêrdîn's Şemrex (Mazıdağ) districts, said that the fire broke out from sparks on the electrical wires. Abi, who is from the Şevashî village of Şemrex, stated that the fire started with sparks on the electrical wires near the Tobînî village, while returning from the Herberî village he went to.

'IF THERE WAS EARLY INTERVENTION, SO MANY PEOPLE WOULDN'T HAVE DIE'

Stating that the villagers came to the scene of the fire and tried to intervene with their own means when the fire started, Abi said: "We came to Herberî village last night to visit patients. We reached Tobînî village around 9:30 pm in the evening. When we came to the village, we saw that the electric wires were colliding with each other at the entrance of the village. There was a big storm yesterday. Suddenly a fire broke out. The people gathered, but we had no power to extinguish it. We did not have the means to intervene in the fire. When a fire broke out, neither the state could intervene nor we had the means to intervene. If this fire had been intervened yesterday, so many people would not have lost their lives."

'THE STATE CAME AFTER THE FIRE EXTINGUISHED'

Stating that the authorities came to the scene after the villagers tried to extinguish the fire with their own means, "The villagers came after extinguishing the fire with their own means. The fire was extinguished with the help of the municipality's fire departments and the public. There was no electricity in our villages until 21:00 pm last night. The electricity went out at 08:00 am in the morning. Our people were left without water, there was no electricity. As soon as the electricity was restored in the evening, the fire spread" Abi said.

WORK FROM DEDAŞ WHERE THE FIRE STARTED

Dicle Electricity Distribution Company (DEDAŞ), whose responsibility for the fire broke out by not renewing the old electricity transmission lines was discussed, started to work in the region. It was noteworthy that DEDAŞ teams were working on the pole where the fire allegedly broke out. Residents of the region are concerned that DEDAŞ will obscure the evidence with the work.
