The "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, solution to the Kurdish issue" campaign, which was launched internationally on October 10 for the physical freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has been held in absolute isolation in İmralı Type F High Security Prison for 25 years and has not been heard from for 34 months, continues with actions. While prisoners in Kurdistan and Turkey prisons started a rotating hunger strike on November 27, The Aegean Association for Assistance with Families of Detainees and Convicts (EGE TUHAYDER) and Tevgera Jinên Azad (TJA) and the relatives of prisoners went on a hunger strike also started a Justice Watch in Amed, Mersin, Adana, Wan, Istanbul and Izmir.
Relatives of the prisoners who attended the "Justice Watch" at the Aegean Representation of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) in Izmir said that Abdullah Öcalan's freedom expresses the freedom of the people in Turkey.
'TURKEY WILL NOT BE LIBERATED UNTIL ABDULLAH ÖCALAN IS FREE'
Medine Kaymaz (82), mother of Bayram Kaymaz who is 28-year prisoner held in Bolu Type F Closed Prison, said that they are keeping a Justice Watch against cruelty policies. Kaymaz said: “The youth of our children rotted in prisons. Mr. Abdullah Öcalan has been isolated in the middle of the sea for 25 years. We are mothers for peace, this society needs peace. Abdullah Öcalan is the leader not only of the Kurds, but of all peoples. Öcalan is trying to stop the bloodshed and bring peace to the whole world. Mr. Öcalan needs to be free. Because Türkiye cannot be liberated until Mr. Öcalan is free. He started the struggle, he has the key, the Kurdish issue will be solved with him."
'GIVE SUPPORT, LET THE OPPRESSION END'
Fehime Poyraz, the mother of Süleyman Poyraz who is held in İzmir Şakran Closed Prison, also said that the isolation policy carried out on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan is applied to all Kurds. Poyraz, who wants the isolation of Öcalan to end, said: “This is why all prisons went on hunger strike. I want all prisoners to be free. It is enough. Our people must support the prisoners and end this oppression."
'WE WILL NOT STEP BACK'
Sultan Yağmekan, the mother of Fırat Yağmekan who has been held in Izmir Kırıklar No. 2 Type F Closed Prison for 15 years, reminded that they started the Justice Watch against the isolation imposed on Abdullah Öcalan and stated that they will take action until their demands are met. Yağmekan said: “For 3 years, Abdullah Öcalan's lawyers have not been able to meet with his family. Where is the justice and law of this country? As relatives of prisoners, we will not step back without hearing from Öcalan. We will pursue this case until the last drop of our blood."
