People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Co-Chairs Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan made a statement about the systematic racist attack on a Kurd-Alevi student in the Koç University dormitory.
'NOT CLARIFYING THIS FEEDS RACISM'
Bakırhan, who made a statement on his virtual media account, stated that the racist attacks were caused by today's political mind and said that not clarifying these attacks would feed fascism. Stating that racist attacks are unacceptable, Bakırhan's post is as follows: "The racist attacks suffered by a Kurd-Alevi student at Koç University are unacceptable. We read the details reflected in the press worryingly. These systematic attacks on differences come from today's political mind, which gives ground to monism. Not clarifying the attack feeds racism and fascism. We call the authorities, especially the university administration, to take responsibility in order to clarify this racist attack as soon as possible, and we state that we will follow up.
'WE WILL BE FOLLOWERS'
Hatimoğulları also made a statement on her virtual media account: “The racist attack against a Kurd-Alevi student at Koç University is unacceptable. Systematic attacks on the pluralist system and our ability to live together with our differences pave the way for this and similar hate crimes. It encourages monism. We call the authorities, especially the university administration, to take responsibility in order to clarify this racist attack as soon as possible, and we state that we will follow up."
