İZMİR - It was learned that arrested HDP İzmir Provincial Co-chair Berna Çelik was strip-searched and TEM police entered her cell.

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Izmir Provincial Co-chair Berna Çelik, who was detained during the home raids in Izmir on October 6 and arrested by the court on the allegation of "being a member of an organization", was subjected to a strip search in prison. Çelik, who was taken to Şakran Women's Closed Prison after being arrested on October 9, met with her lawyers Fatma Demirer and Sidal Bayrak yesterday.

Çelik, who conveyed the rights violations she experienced to her lawyers, said that she was strip-searched while entering prison, and when she condemned it, sexist insults were made. Stating that she was not given breakfast the next morning, Çelik stated that she was taken to the prison with handcuffs on his back, and that the TEM police took her to the cell.

CONDEMNATION FROM HER LAWYER

Speaking about what happened, his lawyer Sidal Bayrak said: "The work of the police normally ends at the door when they deliver the prisoner to the prison. Their entry into the prisoner's room is a special situation for Berna Çelik and it is unlawful. Their conversation with the guards, not giving our client breakfast the next day, and not allowing her to meet her needs are the result of this meeting. Maybe. We will file a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office against both the strip search and this unlawful situation."
