MARDİN - HDP Savur Municipality Co- Mayor Gülistan Öncü, Mazıdağı Co-Mayor Nalan Özaydın and Derik Municipality Co-Mayor Mulkiye Esmez were taken into custody. All 3 municipal buildings were blockaded by the police after the mayors were taken into custody.

 

In Mardin, the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Savur Municipality Co-Mayor Gülistan Öncü, Mazıdağı Municipality Co-Mayor Nalan Özaydın and Derik Municipality Co-Mayor Mulkiye Esmez were taken into custody during police raids to their homes. The CO- Mayors  who were detained on the grounds of the investigations initiated against them were taken to the Mardin Provincial Security Directorate.

 

Following the detention of the Co- Mayors, the municipal buildings were blockaded by the police.

 

In addition to the Co- Mayors, Derik Municipality workers Müslime Özbahçeci, Hediye Güneş, Burhan Temel and Feyzullah Erol were taken into custody as well.

 

The number of detentions in the city may increase.
