NEWS CENTER - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov criticized the US policy towards North and East of Syria, and said that they will continue mediating between Syria and Turkey in the framework of Adana Agreement.

Russia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov has said that Moscow will contribute to cooperation between the governments of Turkey and Syria to ensure security in the border area.

Following the withdrawal of the US troops from the area, Turkey launched a military operation into northern Syria on October 9 against the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The SDF then made an agreement with the Syrian government with the meditation of Russia and handed over several cities, including Manbij and Rawwa, to Damascus.

Lavrov also suggested that European countries should take responsibility for the ISIS militants who began to flee the region as a result of the recent conflict, according to Russia's state-run Sputnik.

Saying that the countries which give shelter to those militants who flee Syria should be responsible for them, Lavrov remarked, "We believe that nations that grant citizenship to future terrorists should take responsibility for them," at a meeting of the FSB, Russia's intelligence agency.
