Mesopotamia Culture Center (MKM) artists made a press conference in Amed City Theater regarding the ongoing hunger strikes and the death fasts.İlham Bakır who read the press statement on behalf of the artists, movie makers and theater players, drawing attention to the fact that the hunger strikes initiated by the DTK Co-chair Leyla Güven and the death fasts started after that are in critical condition and that they are seriously concerned that irreversable outcomes my occur.Bakır said: "We would like to remind once again that as we cannot remain silent as artists, to the cries of the mothers, who are the expression of social conscience and peace with white muslins and those who are laid their bodies to death for the application of the law rightly, humanly and completely."

 

 

Bakır who underlined the fact that stepping towards a solution is necessary, said: "This critical stage of hunger strikes makes every moment very important and makes it more than ever necessary to take practical steps beyond making statements. As the artists who performs the song of this land for years, who creats its theater plays, who shoots its films and tried to embellish their lives and dreams on their canvases; We call on people not to sacrifice their social future to daily individual and political interests and we call on to everyone who considers themselves democrats to be sensitive and supportive of the hunger strikes and to land a helping hand to those who laid their bodies to hunger to stop the isolation and take practical steps. 

 

 

 

On this basis, we are embracing all the demands put forward by the prisoners to create an equal, just and beautiful world that will contribute greatly to the democratization of the country, and we call on everyone to be sensitive and take practical steps to meet these demands."
