VAN- 7 years past the earthquake in Van that 604 people lost their lives and hundreds of them survived injured. The city that haven't been declared a disaster area despite all efforts , 9 families still live in containers and the city have become an unearned income area.

 

7  years past the earthquake in Van on October 23, 2011 that caused 603 people to die and hundreds of them survived injured.

 

Lot's of families still live in containers and none of their problems have been solved.

 

There are 9 families living in containers in Eminpaşa Neighborhood in Van's Edremit district.

 

Gülten Turgut who lives alone with her 3 children said she stays here because she has nowhere to go.

 

Turgut who stated that countless authorities have came and promised them that all their problems will be solved, but they didn't, said : " Even though we are in such a aggrieved situation, the state doesn't assist us in any way. The authorities show up in TV everyday and say no one is aggrieved, but we are. "

 

One of the women staying in the containers is Adilşah Demirhan. Demirhan: " We have been living in this container for 7 years now. I have 4 children. Their father died. They told us they will provide us with a home but they didn't. As the aggrieved families, all we want is a roof over our heads. The grief of the eatrhquake is still- continuing."
