RIHA - Disciplinary proceedings were intiated against prisoners in Urfa Prison who refused to be held in handcuffs during examination and treatment.
Disciplinary proceedings were initiated against 3 prisoners in Urfa Type T Closed Prison No 1 on the grounds that they refused to be held in handcuffs in hospital and refused to be examined in handcuffs. In a meeting with their lawyers, prisoners Kerem Bilgin, Mehmet Yazar and Şervan Muhammed stated that they were called to testify.
On the other hand, the lawyers stated that the prisoners were not treated in hospital due to the same problem, that their access to hot water was problematic, that they had problems with heating in their rooms, and that their families were searched during family visits, including strip searches. The lawyers stated that although the Health Directorate has introduced a shift system in the prison, doctors do not come frequently.
