AMED - The detention period of 29 people, including Kurdish language instructors, has been extended.
Police raided the Mesopotamia Language and Culture Research Association (MED-DER), Payîz Pirtûk and Anka Language and Art Education Cooperative in Amed on September 24. The police also raided the homes of Kurdish language instructors on the same date. 30 people were detained in the raids conducted as part of an investigation launched in 2022. The prosecutor issued a “confidentiality” order on the file.
Cihat Güney, who runs the bookstore Payîz Pirtûk, was released yesterday after his statement to the prosecutor's office. It is learned that an additional 24 hours of detention was ordered for the other detainees.
