NEWS CENTER - KNK Co-chair Ahmed Karamus accused the KDP administration of paving the way for the Turkish army to settle in the Zap, Avaşîn and Metina areas disguised as peshmerga. Karamus said: "KDP is telling the Turkish state 'come here, occupy my country'."
Turkey's attacks against the Zap, Avaşîn and Metina regions of the Federated Kurdistan Region, which started on April 17, 2022, continue. KDP forces once again came to the aid of Turkey, which could not get the results it wanted in these attacks despite all the methods used. While roads are being built in the region so that the Turkish army can advance, on the other hand, special forces affiliated with the KDP deployed in the region are side by side with the Turkish soldiers in their combat positions. Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) Co-Chairperson Ahmed Karamus evaluated the attacks on Zap, Metina and Avaşin regions and the cooperation of the KDP with the Turkish state.
THE PURPOSE OF ATTACKS
Stating that the Turkish state has not been able to make military progress in the region as desired despite its modern weapons and cooperation with the KDP, KNK Co-chairperson Ahmed Karamus said: "The Turkish state continues its chemical weapons attacks against Zap, Metina and Avaşin regions. Their attacks on these three regions are strategic. The aim is to take the region completely under its control. In this way, they want to sever the connections and communications of the regions."
Stating that when we look at the history of resistance of the Kurdish people, there have been many attacks on the regions in question, but no results were obtained from the attacks, Karamus said: “The regions we are talking about are very important regions for the presence of freedom fighters. It is clear that the Turkish state will not be able to achieve results from these attacks and occupation attempts, neither in the past nor in the present period. Despite its thousands of soldiers, banned weapons, unmanned aerial vehicles and helicopters, it was not able to break the existence and resistance of the freedom fighters there and eliminate freedom. That's why he turns to other methods. One of these methods is cooperation with KDP."

CLAIM
Underlining that the KDP's partnership with the Turkish state harms Kurdish national gains, Karamus shared that they have information that the KDP is leading the Turkish army, deploying its forces and establishing military bases. Karamus noted that they had received some information that the Turkish army had settled in some regions under the guise of Peshmerga forces.
KNK Co-chairperson Karamus said: “The Turkish state is settling in the regions where KDP leads and establishes bases. KDP says to the Turkish state: 'Come on, occupy my country'. It turns its back on and opposes the one who protects the interests of the Kurdish people and risks his life for this. If the aim of the KDP is to protect its sovereignty and the interests of the Kurds, it cannot be done this way. We do not see Kurdish national interests in KDP's partnership with Türkiye. If there is an interest, it is only KDP's own interest. If the freedom movement is liquidated today, the door to a very bad process will be opened. Assimilation policies will gain legitimacy. If this power is eliminated, there will be nothing left for the Kurds. There is such a threat to the Kurdish people. We must see this threat and act strategically from a national perspective. KDP is working with a brutal, occupying state that has no respect for humanity. We must turn from this mistake and solve our internal problems among ourselves."
ATTACKS ON NORTH AND EASTERN SYRIA
Comparing Israel and the Turkish state and saying that there is no difference between them, Karamus continued his words as follows: “The war that Israel started against Palestine today is a war that Turkey has started against the Kurds for a century. Israel's war against Palestine sounds very familiar to us. Today, the Turkish state is waging the same war against the Kurds as Israel waged against Palestine. The Turkish state targeted many facilities that meet people's basic needs in Rojava. It destroyed oil wells, gas facilities, water and power plants. The Turkish state wrote and implemented the scenario of the massacre taking place in Palestine today in Kurdistan."
'AKP FASCISM IS MORE ORGANIZED THAN ISRAEL'
Criticizing the lack of reactions to what is happening in Palestine today for Rojava, Karamus said: “If Israel is bombing houses, the Turkish state also bombed them. If Israel is killing children, the Turkish state has killed and is killing Kurdish children. If Israel cut off water and electricity in Palestine, the Turkish state also cut off water and electricity in Rojava. Israel targeted hospitals, and the Turkish state also targeted hospitals. At least the state of Israel accepts the existence and language of Palestine and does not deny it; however, the Turkish state surpasses Israel with its genocide attempts. The fascism of AKP and MHP is much bigger and more organized than Israel's fascism; that's why we Kurds must know what kind of enemy we are resisting and what kind of enemy we are fighting against."
