‘Now it's turn of Kurdish National Congress’ 2025-04-28 14:04:35   RIHA - The delegates attending the Rojava Kurdish Unity and Common Attitude Conference stated that the conference will strengthen the unity of Kurds and that now it is the turn of the Kurdish National Congress.    The "Unity of the Kurdish Rank and Position in Rojava Kurdistan Conference", which took place on 26 April in Qamishlo, North and East Syria, with the participation of 400 delegates from 3 parts of Kurdistan and Syria, was an important step for the Kurdish National Congress, which has been on the agenda for years. In the "Joint Political Vision" approved by the conference, the Kurdish unity and the democratic Syria framework for the solution of the Kurdish question were emphasised. The document, which includes articles on a comprehensive political solution to the Kurdish question within the framework of a decentralised and nationally united Syria, was unanimously approved by the delegates.    Saliha Aydeniz, Mêrdîn (Mardin) MP of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party, one of the participating delegates of the conference, said that now it is the turn of the Kurdish National Congress. Evaluating the conference to Mezopotamya Agency (MA), Saliha Aydeniz said, "As a delegation from Bakur (North Kurdistan), we have witnessed a historic moment, a conference here today. We consider the conference held today as the first step of the Peace and Democratic Society Call made on 27 February. The prioritisation of democracy and the coming of peace will be achieved through the unity of the Kurds among themselves. We consider the fact that Rojava, the smallest part of the four parts of Kurdistan, has taken such a big step as a preliminary step to the unity that Kurdistan will create within itself. We have hope for this to happen. We will expand our work for this. We attended this conference with great excitement in Rojava, in the heart of the revolution, in an area where women's freedom is an example to the whole world. The results of this conference will be instrumental in the democratisation of Syria in a short time and will be the first step towards Kurdish national unity. The mindsets that ignore the Kurds, especially Turkey, need to see this determination. We call on North and East Syria to take part in a place that recognises and respects the Kurdish will, not one that ignores it."    EVIN SIWED: WILL STRENGTHEN THE UNITY OF THE KURDS   Evîn Siwêd, Co-chair of the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, pointed out that the preparations for the conference had been going on for a long time and added: "For a long time, there has been a demand from the Kurdish people to ensure Kurdish unity around a common position. All Kurds are very happy today. The four parts of Kurdistan are happy with what is happening. There are new developments in Syria, the regime has changed. While the future of Syria is being discussed, North and East Syria are among the most talked about segments. The Kurdish people and their friends have long years of gains. These gains were achieved at great cost. It is important for the Kurds to have a voice in order to perpetuate these gains achieved with the Rojava Revolution. Kurds should go to Damascus as one. This conference is important in this respect. This conference will strengthen Kurdish unity. The common positions agreed upon at the conference had been discussed before. These positions were realised at the conference. People from all walks of life took part in the conference. We hope that the conference will lead to the Kurdish National Congress. Now it is the turn of the Kurdish National Congress."   SHEIKH SINAN AHMED SEYDI: THIS UNITY WILL ALWAYS LAST   Sheikh Sinan Ahmed Seyd, one of the religious scholars who attended the conference from Qamishlo, said: "Today is a special day. For how many years our people have waited for this day. Today was the dream of our fathers and grandfathers who lived before us. This step is a sacred step and we are very happy today. Today, Kurds in four parts, especially those living in Rojava, are on the day of existence and non-existence. Today we have come together and this unity will always last. Today is an indication that the blood of our youth was not shed in vain. May this conference be the harbinger of many more good news."   ENKS SPOKESPERSON: WE ARE READY TO DO OUR PART   Fesla Yusif, member of the Presidium of the Syrian Kurdish National Council (ENKS), stressed: "We are very happy to participate in the conference. Today is a historic day. Today is the holiday of the Kurdish people living in Syria. We hope that this conference will respond to the hopes of our people. We are ready to do our part to protect the interests of the Kurds. We thank everyone who contributed to this conference, especially General Mazloum Abdi and President Masoud Barzani. We thank the Kurdish people the most. We also thank the US and French states for their support to us."    MA / Emrullah Acar
